Seven-year-old Valentinka was left an orphan. Her father went to the front and disappeared without a trace. Mother and brother died under the bombing. During the evacuation, the girl fell behind the train, spent the night in a haystack, where she was found completely frozen by a village woman, Darya. And although she had three children of her own, Darya left the girl in her house.
